Vision & Values 2020

Many Minds, One Heart

At Northfield School and Sports College, we believe that everyone should benefit from a first class education and be provided with opportunities to develop to the maximum of their potential. The over-riding ethos of Northfield School and Sports College, recognised by the Investors In People Gold Award 2015, is ensuring maximum achievement in a happy and supportive environment.

Our Sports College specialism, awarded Gold Standard in 2012, ensures that physical well-being and sporting excellence is developed, whilst creativity and self-expression is enhanced through our Arts Mark Gold (Exemplary) status 2014.

In 2015, staff, governors, students and parents re-examined the school’s vision and values. In a process that involved the school’s student council, Junior Leadership Group, staff, governors and the PTA, the views and opinions of a large number of Northfield stakeholders were taken into consideration to devise a vison that we felt best represented the ambition of the school from 2015 to 2020.

Our vision, for the next five years, is that every student can achieve full potential in their academic, creative, personal, physical, moral and spiritual development.

Our aim is to ensure that all of our students leave the school as happy, confident, articulate and successful young people ready and able to work towards becoming successful members of society.

We will continue to develop the ethos of our school so that each student, teacher, staff member, governor and parent feels they can support each other and make a contribution as valued individuals.

Core Values for Students

We will ensure that all students have the opportunity to learn, develop and be challenged, in a safe and caring environment, where all are valued.

Core Values for Staff

We will ensure that our staff are valued, developed, supported and challenged in a safe and happy environment.

Core Values for Parents

We will ensure that we will work in partnership with parents and carers to encourage and support their children to achieve their full potential.

Core Values for the Community

We will ensure that we are at the centre of our community, caring for all by creating an open, listening environment.

British Values

Northfield’s Vison 2020 and core values promote fundamental British values such as tolerance and respect of one’s own and other’s cultures, faiths, traditions and life choices, accepting responsibility for one’s actions, respect for democracy, public institutions and the law.

From discussing the school’s vision, staff and students developed the Northfield Values which are now displayed throughout the school.
