Key stage 3
Year 7,8,9
Teaching staff

Students study a wide range of topics in Key Stage 3 including: Shakespeare, extended prose, poetry both contemporary and literary heritage and non-fiction texts, with discreet focus on the importance of grammar.

Our aim in Key Stage 3 is to foster and develop life-long learning skills and more importantly, a love for English, through a range of teaching and learning techniques. Key to students’ progress are their skills in reading and all students in years 7 and 8 take part in Accelerated Reader; a reading programme they do both in school and as part of their independent study at home. Students taking part in this programme over the last 12 months have made significant progress in their reading.

The curriculum in Key Stage 3 is exciting and challenging, giving students a range of experiences and allowing them to make outstanding progress during the 3 years.
