This is Amazing Chemistry Lecture
In December 30 Year 8 students visited Newcastle University to attend the Royal Society of Chemistry Annual Christmas lecture, entitled This Is Amazing Chemistry.The lecture involved two guest speakers from the University of Central Lancaster, who demonstrated many chemical reactions, with a focus on colour or fire. The event was thoroughly enjoyed by all students who saw reactions unavailable to us as a school, including flame tornadoes and homemade glow sticks. After we left there was a real buzz about the experiments students had seen, although an agreement could not be reached about the best one.
Cleveland Schools Cross Country Championship
Cleveland Schools Cross Country Championship - Year 8 student, Isabel finished 3rd in the Junior Girls race and now represents Cleveland at the North inter-counties championship in Northumberland. This is a great achievement!Also, Oliver (Year 7) finished 11th and Zara (Year 7) 22nd. The 3 students ran very well and can be proud of their achievements, well done to Isabel, Oliver and Zara!
Author, Peter J Murray, Visits Northfield School
Creepy music and scary skulls greeted Y7 students as they entered the hall to take part in a spooky performance by award winning children’s author, Peter J Murray. Peter took Y7 on an epic Viking journey, which was inspired by a trip to the Jorvik Centre in York.His latest series tells how Billy’s holiday takes a terrifying turn when the ghost of a ruthless Viking warrior returns.
