Year 10 Students Visit Conyers for MFL Workshop with Oxford University
On Monday 18th March, 14 year 10 students went to Conyers School to attend an MFL workshop hosted by Oxford University. The event gave students the opportunity to talk about the importance of languages today, the need for languages when it comes to business and trade and what it's like studying a language beyond GCSE.As well as learning more about the Oxbridge application process, students took part in a Russian taster session before specifically going into small groups to look at French through photography and art and German through studying literature.
Students Perform Well at Regional Maths Challenge
On 6th March two year 8 and two year 9 students took part in a regional Maths Challenge. The students were a credit to Northfield and placed 3rd out of the many schools that entered. Well done Samuel, Amy, Poppy and Viyasan.
Year 8 Debate Workshop With Prior's Mill
As well as celebrating World Book Day on the 7th March, Northfield welcomed students from Prior's Mill to participate in a debate workshop with our Year 8 Debate Team. The primary students chose the topic 'animal testing should be banned' and watched the Year 8s debate it. Afterwards, all students participated in a Question and Answer session about the debate and their teams. The session was enjoyed by all students. Primary Schools Football Finals On the afternoon of Monday 4th February, the primary school football finals took place at Northfield School. With the help of our sports leaders refereeing the games, it was an enjoyable afternoon for everyone. Well done to all the teams that competed and for trying their absolute best. All teams showed respect to us as sports leaders and the opposition teams. The final went all the way to penalties; very exciting! Harry Potter Book Night 2019
Northfield School Library magically took on the guise of Hogwarts recently, as students and staff joined bookshops, public libraries and other schools across the country to celebrate the 5th Annual Harry Potter Book Night. Wizards, witches and muggles took part in a selection of games and activities including; the sorting hat ceremony, a Hogwarts treasure hunt, pin the sock on Dobby and a wand duel! Refreshments were provided by ‘Honeydukes’ sweet shop and the evening was rounded off with a rousing rendition of the quidditch chants composed by the students in their Hogwarts Houses.
