Northfield Dragon Boaters: From Beginners to Winners!
Last year five Northfield students took to the water as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Award.Corey, Declan, Dominic, Maya and Skye joined the Tees Valley Dragons Powerhouse dragon boat team to complete their award in October and nearly a year later they have battled their way to the top of the junior league, paddled to success with the adult team and started Great Britain trials. At the beginning of the racing season in April at Stockton on Tees, the Power Spartan Juniors were formed after our students progressed in training and wowed the crowds with their power and resilience....
National Poetry Day 2017
National Poetry Day was celebrated in Northfield School Library on Thursday 28th September with a ‘Poetry Read’ at lunchtime. The theme this year was ‘Freedom’ and a number of our students who are members of the ‘Library Café’ and ‘Year 9 Reading Group’ wrote their own poems to read out at the event. Members of staff along with students from all year groups joined in sharing their favourite poems.National Poetry Day is all about enjoying, discovering and sharing poetry. Annual Shakespeare’s Festival
Northfield School and Sports College are once again preparing to participate in the annual School Shakespeare Company production for our third year in a row.Our Key Stage 3 cast are eagerly learning this year’s production of The Taming of the Shrew and have had the pleasure of working with professional actors at Middlesbrough Theatre in preparation for their final performance in November. A Great Start for Year 7 Science
Our Year 7 students have started off the year by learning all about Lab safety, including how to light Bunsen burners, handle chemicals, the importance of keeping themselves and others safe while doing practical work, and how to risk assess an activity. Once again our students rose to the challenge and displayed a very high level of maturity throughout.Well done Year 7 you are all off to a great start in Science at Northfield.
