Careers Event – Business Visits

From Monday 6th February – Friday 10th February Year 10 students took part in a number of different events linked to the development of their careers. Over 240 students visited a wide range of businesses from Darchem Engineering in Stillington to more local organisations like Ignition Radio and Wynyard Hall Hotel. The aim of the event was to develop students’ ideas about their careers and show them the range of jobs and opportunities available to them in the local area. Success for former Northfield Student Cydney Bourne

Congratulations to former Northfield student Cydney Bourne who recently delivered a speech at the world renowned Royal Society of Medicine. The topic of Cydney’s speech was her experiences at Great Ormond Street Hospital. She also spoke about how, through great courage and determination, she was able to cope with a very serious medical issue as well as the rigours and demands of school life. Cydney delivered her speech to a large audience of E.N.T Consultants and Registrar Doctors. Well done Cydney!

Northfield Panathlon Leaders

On Friday 3rd February 15 year 9 sports leaders were selected to attend the North East Regional Panathlon Final held at Eston Leisure Centre. This event is for disabled children who take part in various adapted sports events. In the morning the students received their event training. Following this the leaders welcomed 9 schools from around the region and got to know some of the children. Once the competition started the leaders were left to organise and run the different events. Northfield Skiing Adventure in the Alp d'Heuz

4am on a Saturday morning isn't usually a busy time in the car park of Northfield School. However, on the morning of Saturday 21st of January, the car park was filled with 31 excited students, 31 suitcases and 31 sets of parents saying their goodbyes. Alp d'Huez in France was our destination; aptly named the 'sunshine island' due to the 300 days of sunshine they get every year. Mental Health and Wellbeing Conference

On Thursday 8th December, Miss Kirkbride and Mr Richardson took nine Year Nine pupils to a Mental Health and Wellbeing Conference at Framwellgate School. Not knowing what to expect, we set off in heavy fog across Durham to find the school. Upon arrival we were immediately greeted by the staff there from Humanutopia, who shook hands with each and every one of the 100 pupils who attended, from all over the North East.
