Medicine and Dentistry day – Newcastle Medical School Thursday 15th June 2017
Ten year 9 students with the desire to study Medicine and Dentistry, got the fantastic opportunity to attend a Medicine and Dentistry day at Newcastle Medical School. Students had to write a letter of application explaining why they want to study medicine or dentistry before gaining a place at the event reflecting the competitiveness of the 2 careers. On the day students got to explore the exciting world of both Medicine and Dentistry, taking part in interactive lectures and clinical skills labs. Northfield School General Election
During the week of the General Election we held our own vote in school. Year 10 Business students researched the main parties’ manifestos and created short presentations that all students would understand. During Morning Form Time tutors explained the choices before allowing students to vote.The graph below shows how our students voted with no sign of a hung parliament as the Labour party received 51.41%. Gram Seed Talking to Year 8 Students About His Past and Religious Experiences
This week, Gram Seed from Sowing Seeds is talking to students about his life and how religion helped him find a new direction and purpose. Gram travels the country visiting Prisons, Schools and Churches, working closely with the community to aid offenders, ex-offenders and families to a better way of life. Sowing Seeds Ministries bring Christian Love to people who need help and support to live in society with a purpose in their lives.
Northfield Students Win Business Competition at Stockton Sixth Form College
On Thursday 15th June, a group of year 9 and 10 students traveled to Stockton Sixth Form College to take part in a Business competition which was run by ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales). They worked in teams of 6 and had to develop ideas for a new ‘Smoothie’ making business. They were competing against a range of local schools and both Northfield groups did extremely well. The year 10 students won the competition and the year 9 students finished as runners-up which is an outstanding result considering they have not yet started their Business course. ...
