Louie’s Kicking in the Right Direction!

Louie Evans, a Year 9 model student at Northfield School & Sports College, has recently been recognised for his talent in football and received a place at the Middlesbrough Football Academy for the Under 14s. With football being a family interest, Louie has enjoyed playing the sport most of his life and started to play for his local club at Billingham Town Juniors when he was just 7 years old. Dominic Claims a GB Seat at the World Championships!

Former Northfield student, Dominic Seri-Curry, has recently been selected to represent Great Britain in the Under 18’c category of Dragon Boat Racing at the World Championships in August which will be held in Thailand. Dominic left Northfield in July 2018 and as well as gaining successful exam results he also has 5 years of memories and experiences in enjoying school activities. Year 9 and 10 Students Visit Durham University Science Festival

On Wednesday 3rd April 40 year 9 and 10 students visited Durham University’s Science Festival. Students were given the opportunity to take part in hands on activities from different scientific disciplines including chemistry, biology, engineering and many more. STEM Week March 2019

STEM week took place in school this term to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths subjects and inspire students to consider STEM related careers in the future. Events throughout the week included opportunities for different year groups to develop their STEM skills they included MFT activities, a visit from Zoo lab and the whole of Y7 taking part in a national competition ‘Race for the line’. BBC Young Reporter Day 2019

Wednesday 6th March 2019 was an important day for 10 Northfield students who are members of the Northfield News Team. The group, run by Miss Orley and Mrs Green, meets once a week in the Library to complete workshops on interviewing, report writing and camera techniques amongst other skills. The students work individually and as a team in preparation for the highlight of their year, the national BBC Young Reporter of the Year.
