Year 8 and 9 Students Come 4th in National Panathlon Event
Six Year 8 and 9 students competed in the 2018 Panathlon event at the fantastic London Olympics Aquatics Centre on 22 November 2018.Having previously won the Tees Valley event and finishing 3rd in the North East event the team qualified for the National Finals where they finished 4th!
Northfield School Students Meet Author Robin Stevens
On Tuesday 9th October members of our Library Café group became detectives for the morning when they met murder mystery author Robin Stevens at Conyers School. Bestselling author Robin was touring the country to promote the 8th book in her popular ‘Murder Most Unladylike’ series, ‘Death in the Spotlight’. She talked to students about how her childhood in Oxford and her time at boarding school inspired her series about Daisy and Hazel who solve crimes when the adults don’t believe them. BAE Systems STEM Roadshow
On Thursday 11th October, BAE systems visited Northfield school to deliver their new roadshow “It’s a Numbers game” to Y7 and Y8 students. The Roadshow was devised in response to the Government's acknowledgement that there is already a shortfall of ‘home grown’ scientists and engineers to meet the needs of the country and by capturing the interest of young people aged 10 – 13, we can hopefully increase the numbers that take STEM subjects and ultimately increase the pool of talent in years to come. Year 7 Ecology Lecture About Bees
Year 7 got busy this week with a guest lecturer Mr “Bee Man” Mace. As part of the ecology topic they got to examine a hive up close and learn more about the importance of bees as part of our food chains. They also got to taste some home grown local honey. As always year 7 were very well 'bee...haved' and showed just how well they have settled into the Northfield community.Well done year 7 you have created quite a buzz around school.
Year 11 College Market Place
On Monday 1st October year 11 students got the opportunity to collect information from a number of local colleges and apprenticeship providers. The event was set up as a market place in the school hall and groups of students were given time to talk to college representatives and ask questions regarding their future education.The students collected leaflets and prospectuses which will hopefully help them to decide which colleges and courses to apply for. This will be discussed and followed up within 1-to-1 careers sessions in school. The students were also given a full list of all local college open events...
