Northfield Students Excel at Tees Valley Boccia Competition
Northfield School was represented by 10 year 7, 8 and 9 students today at the Tees Valley Boccia competition held at marsh house avenue sports centre. Boccia is a team sport and is a form of seated bowling. Students were in teams of 3 or 4 and split into 5 pools competing against 34 other teams. Lily, Jade and Kai were placed third in their pool. Class of 2017 Awards Evening
On Monday 6th November, Northfield invited students from the class of 2017 back to school to celebrate their examination success.At Northfield’s GCSE Certificate and Awards Evening, students arrived with family and reunited with school friends in the main school hall once more to celebrate their achievements over the last five years.Mr Walker reviewed the year’s achievements and highlighted the success stories of the class of 2017 and expressed his gratitude for the positive impact each student has had at Northfield School. Year 11 College Market Place
On Monday 2nd October year 11 students got the opportunity to collect information from a number of local colleges and apprenticeship providers. The event was set up as a market place in the school hall and groups of students were given time to talk to college representatives and ask questions regarding their future education.The students collected leaflets and prospectuses which will hopefully help them to decide which colleges and courses to apply for. Year 7 Restart a Heart Event
On Monday 16th October 300 year 7 students were trained to give CPR. This was part of an international campaign which aimed to train thousands of young people in one day. The ability to restart a heart is incredibly important and saves thousands of lives every year. The year 7 students were all excellent and whilst we hope they never have to use their new skills we are sure that they are capable.
Year 8 Geography Trip to York
Year 8 Geography students had a great day developing their GCSE fieldwork skills whilst investigating the sustainability of York. Students completed questionnaires on environmental quality, noise and traffic surveys at the Vanguarde Centre and two locations in the city centre. All students collected some excellent data for their projects.
