Year 7 Book Corners
To celebrate World Book Day Year Seven have been busy working hard on creating book corners in their tutor rooms. Each tutor was given a budget of £50 to spend on getting decorations for their book corners. Each tutor group came up with their own theme for the book corner and many pupils donated items from home to make the corners really stand out.Our themes were all very different, such as: Books Got Talent, Space, Save the Bees, Harry Potter, the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe and Jack and the Beanstalk.The winner was 7L with their Lion the Witch...
World Book Day March 2019
March the 7th 2019 saw Northfield School celebrating World Book Day, but this year we went one step further. This year staff and students were able to dress up as a book character of their choice. Over 70 members of staff dressed up and taught their lessons that day, dressed up as anything from Fantastic Mr Fox to an Oompa Loompa! Some children dressed up too and made a huge effort to get involved in the activities throughout the day. In English, children read extracts from stories and created their own book covers. Prior's Mill Participate in Final Workshop with Northfield's Year 8 Debate Team
On 21 March, Northfield welcomed back students from Prior's Mill to participate in a final workshop with our Year 8 Debate Team. All students were split into two teams: for and against banning nuts on planes. Each Year 8 was ‘buddied-up’ with a Prior’s Mill student, helping them to create their speech for the debate and coaching them on debating tips. Prior’s Mill’s Team then carried out the debate using the speeches and tips from Northfield’s Debate Team. Year 10 Students Visit Conyers for MFL Workshop with Oxford University
On Monday 18th March, 14 year 10 students went to Conyers School to attend an MFL workshop hosted by Oxford University. The event gave students the opportunity to talk about the importance of languages today, the need for languages when it comes to business and trade and what it's like studying a language beyond GCSE.As well as learning more about the Oxbridge application process, students took part in a Russian taster session before specifically going into small groups to look at French through photography and art and German through studying literature.
Students Perform Well at Regional Maths Challenge
On 6th March two year 8 and two year 9 students took part in a regional Maths Challenge. The students were a credit to Northfield and placed 3rd out of the many schools that entered. Well done Samuel, Amy, Poppy and Viyasan.
