Year 10 Mock Interviews at St James’ Park

On 23 May 2018, a group of year 10 students travelled to St James’ Park in Newcastle on Wednesday to take part in a series of mock interviews as part of the ‘Employability Skills’ programme that we have been running throughout the year.The event was organised by Esh Group plc and included over 60 business panels and thousands of students from schools across the north east.Our students did a fantastic job and impressed the interviewers with their maturity and calmness throughout what can be a very stressful process. Be Strong Online Ambassadors

The Be Strong Online Ambassador Training Days are all-day events in which young people will be trained as Be Strong Online Ambassadors. These students will go on to run online safety campaigns, sessions and assemblies in your school to help their peers increase their digital resilience. The training events provide a great opportunity to meet and share ideas with passionate staff, professionals and young people from schools, academies and organisations in your local area. Northfield School Receive Enhanced Mainstream School Plaque From Local Authority

Northfield School has been selected by the Local Authority to develop Enhanced Mainstream support for young people who are Deaf/Hearing Impaired and Blind/Visually Impaired. This will ensure that more young people can attend a mainstream school in their home authority, while receiving dedicated support from specialist teaching and support staff.In the coming months a bespoke extension will be built to house specialist equipment and provide dedicated space for specialist teaching and learning and skills development. Sporting Success at the Stockton Games

Northfield students competed well at the Stockton games, in particular finishing 1st in the Boys u13 Volleyball + u13 Cycling and 2nd in the Girls u13 cycling. The cycling teams now compete at the Tees Valley finals. All students really enjoyed the day. Mental Health Awareness Week

This week is Mental Health Awareness week and the school library provides many resource to support students mental health and wellbeing. To mark the week the Year 7 & 8 members of library café and Year 9 reading group have created positive message cards and hidden them in books around the library to spread messages of wellbeing. One can also find recommended books on our mental health and wellbeing reading list this includes non-fiction titles to offer information and advice as well as fiction titles that explore mental health issues through the story to develop understanding and empathy.Students can also...
