Tees Valley County Rugby Finals
Northfield School's Year 7 Rugby team played in the Tees Valley County rugby finals at Redcar Rugby Club. They narrowly missed out on reaching the semi-finals, losing to Carmel who were the eventual winners.The boys played some excellent rugby, beating Laurence Jackson comfortably and narrowly losing to English Martyrs having been leading comfortably at half time.
Football Fantasy in Catalan
Forty five Northfield pupils in years 8, 9 and 10 lived the life of a footballer in Catalan during the Easter holiday. The students had 4 quality coaching sessions at Futbol Salou with Catalan Football Federation coaches and also games against local Catalan club teams.Mr Alderson who organised the visit with Inspiresport said, " Inspiresport recommended Catalan Football Federation because of it's link with FC Barcelona and the excellent facilities at Cambrils Park and Futbol Salou. STEM Club Visit to Suez Recycling and Recovery Plant
On Tuesday 17th April Y7 & Y8 STEM club students visited Suez recycling and recovery plant at Haverton Hill to learn about how they create energy from waste. Suez provides innovative and environmentally-responsible solutions for the waste generated by households and businesses. During the visit students got a tour of the waste bunker, flue gas treatment and furnace fire. Northfield School Wins Rugby 7's Competition
On 28th March, Northfield School competed at West Hartlepool in the Rugby 7's competition. Under the leadership of their captain, Tom, Northfield ended up winning, proudly wearing the new rugby kits!All the lads did really well but the 3 stand out performers were Tom, Bruno and Reece!
STEM club trip to EDF nuclear power station
On Monday 26th March, 29 STEM club students in Y7 & Y8 visited the EDF Nuclear Power Station in Hartlepool. Students got the exciting opportunity to see inside the Nuclear Power Station during a tour where they visited the turbine hall; home to two electromagnet generators, the cooling water pump house and the emergency garages. On the afternoon students took part in ‘Pretty curious’ workshop to challenge their perceptions of STEM and to be inspired to pursue STEM based careers.
