Alice's 150th Birthday Celebrations
On Wednesday 13th May students at Northfield celebrated the 150th anniversary of children’s classic Alice in Wonderland with a Mad Hatters Tea Party in the Library and Resource Centre. Students from Years 7, 8 and 9 were invited to join in the fun. Student General Election 2015
Image courtesy of BBC On Thursday 7th May the public voted in the General Election. At the same time over 400 students logged onto computers in order to take part in a Northfield School Election. In the week leading up to the election during morning form time students were informed about the importance of the event and how it would affect their lives in the future. They also watched videos prepared by year 10 students on each political party. First Public Duty for New Student Leadership Team
Northfield School's newly appointed Student Leadership Team carried out their first public duty by participating in the British Legion's VE Day Commemoration at Memorial Park in Billingham. Harvey Duffield (Head Boy) and Aoife Duckers (Head Girl) performed a reading about a local soldier from Billingham who experienced VE Day. Maisie Narroway (Deputy Head Girl), Nicholas Yiannoulis (Deputy Head Boy) and Charlie Smith (Head Prefect) laid a wreath on behalf of Northfield School in remembrance of the sacrifices made in WW2 and all conflicts before and since.
Pupils chosen by the BBC!
We were delighted that three students from Northfield School were chosen to take part in the ‘Talking Heads’ filming as part of the Achievement for All and BBC Children in Need Fun and Friendship collaborative module development. This is a really exciting development and we are very proud that the BBC had chosen our school as an example of outstanding practice in terms of developing pupil and parent voice within school through our work with Achievement for All. Chloe Alderson is an Army Cadet and is certainly going further!
Cadet Alderson has been a member of the force for two years and has recently taken a trip to Germany to train in field-craft, First Aid and map and compass skills.Chloe also had the opportunity to take part in an array of water sports and cultural visits as well as working towards her Duke of Edinburgh qualification.Chloe is a valued member of Army Cadet Force and relishes the opportunities presented to her.
