Anne Frank Ambassadors' Day

On Tuesday 9th December, the year 9 Anne Frank ambassadors attended the Ambassadors Day at Shotton Hall, Peterlee. During the day, the students learnt about people through history who have shown moral courage and, through hot seating, thought about the qualities they share. They explored the importance of human rights and found out about genocides in history and the stages they involve. Students also met Ali Hussan and heard his story of surviving the Rwandan Genocide and his subsequent asylum in Newcastle. They also learnt about the different stories of immigration to Britain. Living Waterways Geography Visit

David Johnson, Living Waterways officer with the Tees Valley Wildlife Trust, visited geography lessons to give a talk on environmental management of waterways in Teesside.  The class heard how rare species, such as the water vole, have become extinct in Billingham's becks and streams in the last 10 years.   Students learned about ways in which rare local species are now being protected and how they can get involved in fun activities that will help conserve wildlife habitats.

Mayor's Christmas Concert

Our Junior and Senior Soloists performed once again last Friday at the Mayor of Stockton’s Christmas Carol Concert at Stockton Parish Church. As the only secondary school taking part, our students excelled in opening the proceedings. Some of our singers got into character and helped to recreate the nativity scene. Our Soloists are looking forward to their next performance at Middlesbrough Town Hall on Sunday the 14th of December where they will be performing alongside the Tees Valley Music Choir and Orchestra as well as other secondary schools in the area.

Award winning children’s author visits Northfield School

Award winning children’s author and screen writer Barry Hutchison visiting Northfield as part of the Northern Children’s Book Festival. He first led a talk with all year 8 students making them laugh out loud with tales about his childhood fears that inspired his series of books ‘Imaginary fiends’ which are about imaginary friends that come back in your nightmares. There was time for students to ask questions and buy his books to have signed. Northfield Singers at Stockton Sparkles

Last week saw the first of Northfield’s festive musical performances. The Junior and Senior Soloists sang a variety of Christmas classics at ‘Stockton Sparkles’, Stockton High Street’s annual Christmas event. It is the fourth year the singers have performed there to a packed audience of friends, family and Christmas shoppers and they certainly did us proud!
