National Anti-bullying week 2014

This year our school celebrated National Anti-bullying week with the theme of ‘Heroes’. Whether they are Super Heroes, Military Heroes, Everyday Heroes, Fundraising Heroes and, of course, Baking Heroes! Throughout the week, students  participated in activities in morning form time and assembly raising awareness about the ‘role’ we can play in others’ lives through support and good-nature.  Our peer-supporters took the lead in running a variety of fund-raising activities including:  a superhero cake raffle; guess the number of Heroes in a  tin; a blue sweetie hamper; gingerbread man challenge, and the SLT superhero Bake Off.Our school raised a total of...

FE Colleges VisitRecently all year 11 students took part in a morning event involving 8 local Further Education Colleges. The purpose of the event was to provide information to all students about the wide range of establishments and courses that are available to them in the local area. New chair and treasurer for the Home School Association!

Paul Sowerby has been elected chair of Northfield’s HSA, the group also has a new treasurer in Gary Cookland. We look forward to working with both parents in the future.  Deborah Miller and Alison Bloomfield have stepped down as chair and treasurer respectively after a number of years of dedicated service. Football Year 10 Won 10-3 v Grangefield (League) Year 8 Draw 3-3 v Bishopsgarth (League) Year 9 Lost 4-1 v Egglescliffe (League) U13 Girls Lost 2-1 v Cramlington (ESFA) Year 10 Lost 3-1 v Shotton Hall (ESFA) Netball U12 v Egglescliffe Won 9-0 and v Ian Ramsay Won 6-2. Murderous Maths Author Visits Northfield

Recently, Northfield was extremely lucky to have Kjartan Pokitt visit the school. Mr Pokitt is the author of the murderous maths book series. We welcomed over 100 primary school students into Northfield for the afternoon, along with all the year 7 students for an exciting presentation that will not be forgotten for a long time. He presented an energetic performance involving maths tricks that baffled year 7 and primary students. The students were highly engaged and learnt several interesting facts about mathematics. The students left the event in awe and wanting to learn more.
