Parliament Week 2014

On the 13th and 14th of November, 25 Year 8 students were off time-table, learning all about parliament and debating in celebration of national Parliament Week 2014. Students participated in several games and activities, giving them insight into the world of politics and the government. The debate days culminated in a formal debate chaired by Deputy Head teacher, Mr Henderson, and the school’s Learning and Behaviour Strategy Manager, Mrs Lucas. The motion students chose was that schools should adopt a zero tolerance bullying policy, with both sides making informed and valid arguments throughout. The Thankful Soldier Production

Inspired by the Year 11 trip to War Horse at The Lowry Theatre in Salford and to coincide with the World War One commemorations, Northfield School and Sports College present The Thankful Solider on Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 December; a story of hope, human nature and sacrifice.England and Wales are home to the ‘Thankful Villages’ from which all of their men returned from the war. World Challenge 2014

During the summer holidays, 11 Northfield students experienced the opportunity of a lifetime when they embarked upon a three-and-a-half week journey to Central America. Two years ago, students from Years 9 and 10 dedicated their spare time and energy to raising £3,795 in order to take part in the World Challenge expedition. At the time all they knew is that they would visit three countries and to expect the unexpected. Northfield’s Art club celebrates Billingham’s 50th Folklore Festival

Due to the success of last year’s artwork, created by Northfield’s Art Club, we were asked again by organisers to create an impressive 20 pieces of artwork to be displayed around the arena to mark the Folklore Festival’s 50th anniversary.
