Robin Newlove visits Year 10 Geography
The geography department welcomed guest speaker Robin Newlove to the department this week. Robin is a member of the RTPI (Royal Town Planners Institute) and spoke to a group of year 10 geographers about the role and future of urban planning. Robin was able to provide expertise about many relevant topics to the students' GCSE course including sustainable urban planning. Students were also asked to provide a short statement about their future vision for the planning of our towns and cities. These statements could feature on the national RTPI website.
Young Americans 10 to 12 March 2015
Northfield School are very excited to announce that The Young Americans are, for the second time, working with students in Billingham, delivering performance education workshops to students of all ages. As you may know, The Young Americans are a group of 250+ Performing Arts students from 39 states in America and 8 countries around the world. Year 10 Geographers visit Newcastle
Year 10 Geographers visited Newcastle this week to investigate urban redevelopment and regeneration. Students visited a number of locations including the Angel of the North, Byker Wall, Newcastle Quayside, the Baltic, and the Sage.
Year 7 Foodbank Collection
This term Northfield’s Year Seven have been hard at work collecting non-perishable food items to donate to the Billingham Foodbank. There has been a competition between the tutor groups to see who can collect the most tins; with the winning tutor group and second place winning a prize. All tutor groups have risen to the challenge with the top three tutor groups being 7TD, 7TE and 7TI; bringing in a consecutive 80, 261 and 286 tins! Year 7 Church Service at St Cuthbert's
On Wednesday 17th December Year Seven attended our fifth annual Church Service at St Cuthbert’s Church in Billingham. We were treated to moving performances by the Northfield Soloists (including Paige Capper, Ellena Cornforth and Erin Smith) of 'Where are you Christmas?' and 'White Christmas'. All students sang beautifuly and were praised by Mr Walker. The Sign Language club, including Naomi Palmer, Tia Donaldson and Sarah Howsden, performed a British Sign Language version of Silent Night which was performed faultlessly by all.
