Calling all Harry Potter fans, wizards, witches and muggles
Thursday 5th February 2015 will see the first ever Harry Potter Book Night celebrated throughout the country in hundreds of schools, libraries and book shops. It’s a special evening to celebrate the wonder of J.K Rowling’s unforgettable stories and introduce the new generation of readers to the magic of Harry Potter. We will be holding a Harry Potter Book Night here at Northfield School in the Library and Resource Centre for KS:3 students to take part in a fun evening of games, activities, readings and quizzes. Robin Newlove visits Year 10 Geography
The geography department welcomed guest speaker Robin Newlove to the department this week. Robin is a member of the RTPI (Royal Town Planners Institute) and spoke to a group of year 10 geographers about the role and future of urban planning. Robin was able to provide expertise about many relevant topics to the students' GCSE course including sustainable urban planning. Students were also asked to provide a short statement about their future vision for the planning of our towns and cities. These statements could feature on the national RTPI website.
Young Americans 10 to 12 March 2015
Northfield School are very excited to announce that The Young Americans are, for the second time, working with students in Billingham, delivering performance education workshops to students of all ages. As you may know, The Young Americans are a group of 250+ Performing Arts students from 39 states in America and 8 countries around the world. Fifty of which are on tour in Britain and are joining us at Northfield School in March 2015 to deliver Performance Outreach workshops, culminating in a two hour performance, featuring our students. Year 10 Geographers visit Newcastle
Year 10 Geographers visited Newcastle this week to investigate urban redevelopment and regeneration. Students visited a number of locations including the Angel of the North, Byker Wall, Newcastle Quayside, the Baltic, and the Sage.
