A Fond Farewell From Headteacher Mr Walker

Dear parents and carers, in my final Headteacher’s message I would like to thank you for your wonderful support throughout my time as Headteacher at Northfield. We have certainly been busy since I joined the school in 2010. I feel that there is much of which we should be proud. I hope that you have managed to see our dancers, singers and musicians over the last two weeks performing in school, in Stockton, at Abbey Hill and in St. Cuthbert’s Church.

As I reflect on the past 8 years, I cannot fail to be impressed by the achievements of our students and staff. Very few schools are national champions in a number of sports or offer students such a range of opportunities to develop their leadership skills through the Duke of Edinburgh Award, the British Expeditionary Society, Junior Leadership Team and Peer Supporters to name a few. With all of this and also academic excellence I leave with the same opinion of the school that I had in 2010; Northfield is by far the best school I have ever worked in.

As the Headteacher of Northfield, I have enjoyed amazing experiences. I have been to Buckingham Palace and St James’ Palace to meet the Duke of Edinburgh and I have visited the Palace of Westminster four times as well as the Guild Hall in London. I have visited Norway, Sweden and China to visit schools and work with Headteachers in these countries. All of which have provided me with memories I will never forget.

It has been my privilege to work with gifted and dedicated staff and governors to support our children. However, none of our success would have been possible without your support.

I leave Northfield in the knowledge that the school will continue to thrive under Northfield’s fourth Headteacher, Richard Henderson. He is someone of whom I have the highest professional and personal respect. I can leave confident that the school is in excellent hands.

For the final time, on behalf of the governors and staff at Northfield, I wish you a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year! Thank you for everything!

Craig Walker
