Lisa Thompson Author Talk at Teesside High School

Have you ever wondered what it would be like if you had never been born? If, one day your life was erased and everything you’d known was gone? That was the question put to a group of Year 7 students by author Lisa Thompson when they heard her talk at Teesside High School earlier this week. The event was organised by Drake’s Bookshop and students from a number of local schools filled the packed hall, all keen to meet a real life author. Our students were chosen to take part as a reward for their achievements in the Accelerated Reader programme.

Award winning author, Lisa Thompson spoke to students about her latest book, ‘The Day I Was Erased’, which charts the journey of Maxwell, a young boy who is always in trouble but loves his dog, Monster, who he saved from being run over and his elderly neighbour, Reg, who he visits regularly.

Lisa talked about her journey to become an author and what inspires her to write. She entertained the students with stories about the famous actors she encountered in her previous job and signed copies of her latest book along with her two other books, The Goldfish Boy and The Light Jar. The morning was rounded off with a question and answer session with our Year 7 students participating enthusiastically.
