ASSESS
Students are identified as having special educational needs(SEND) from a range of information provided by primary schools, staff within school, parents and carers.
If a need is identified within school, parents /carers will be contacted and with permission, various assessments will be carried out, some with external agencies, to confirm the support the child requires.
PLAN
SEND is a whole-school priority so teaching staff will work , when appropriate, alongside learning support assistants delivering quality first teaching.
Whilst teaching students with SEND is primarily the responsibility of the class teacher ,teachers will receive support and relevant information from the SENCO in relation to the specific needs some students may have.
REVIEW
The SENCO will be the person who will keep in touch with parents/carers. The regularity of this is dependant on each individual child’s needs, but there would be regular contact.
Assessment of your child’s provision and how effective it is, would be reviewed every half-term.
Parents/carers wanting additional information can find relevant links in the SEND area of our website.
DO
The school will offer a variety of provision, many specific to the needs of the child.
Support will vary, some may be short, others medium or long-term. Some support is carried out by staff within school and others may be external agencies.
At all times parents/carers are included in discussions to ensure that all parties concerned are happy with what is in place.
