Donations Needed for The British Exploring Society Expedition to Iceland

Donations Needed for The British Exploring Society Expedition to Iceland

This July five Year 10 students from Northfield School are taking part in an expedition to Iceland. The expedition is organised by a charity called The British Exploring Society (Reg Charity Number. 802196).

British Exploring is an established youth development charity which promotes adventure activity as a means to personal growth. Following the lines of their motto ‘adventure with purpose’, they go to remote wilderness settings where the explorers (like our students) carry out important scientific fieldwork that often contributes to wide reaching projects.

The expedition itself will be a significant challenge as students must hike and wild-camp for 3 weeks with no access to modern amenities such as toilets and showers. In addition, the students must complete 30 hours of “social action / voluntary work” within the community prior to the expedition.

The students must also work as a team to raise £7000 for the British Explorers charity and are working hard in school and in the community to begin fundraising.

We would be truly appreciative if you or your organisation might consider a donation towards our fundraising. Your sponsorship of this event would go some way to helping the students to reach their target and we would be very grateful if you are able to find the resources to support this charity event. The students would be happy to feedback to your organisation after the event and we would love to publicise your sponsorship by writing a story for the school website.

Please feel free to email Mr McNally as the lead teacher if you have any questions or would like to make a donation.
