Y8 Activities and Progress February 2021
During this half term Year 8 have had the opportunity to communicate every morning with their form tutor; to ask questions, receive support and generally check in on how they are doing. In addition, they have been invited to attend a series of online assemblies focussed on staying healthy during the lock down period. General advice has been given such as keeping a routine, getting exercise and promoting further support which is available if they feel they need it.
Students have also been encouraged to take a break from screen time at appropriate times during the day, to try a new activity. These have included: juggling, random acts of kindness and origami. Engaging in an activity or learning a new skill is a good way to contribute to positive well-being. Part of each assembly has involved a number of students receiving a reward for their excellent online engagement. We are very proud of how they have adjusted to online learning and 95.4% are attending online lessons regularly. Each week students who have received merit points for their online work have been in a draw to win prizes. The assemblies conclude on Thursday with the whole assembly dedicated to recognising students for their excellent online engagement during this period.
Well done Year 8, keep up the good work!
