🏅 On Wednesday we took over 40 talented Year 9 and Year 10 pupils to Bede College to experience everything the ISE Academies have to offer! 💪🔥 The pupils experienced high-quality academy coaching in ⚽ Football, 🏐 Netball, 🏉 Rugby and 🏀 Basketball, whilst also completing a series of fitness tests, a strength and conditioning session, and several team-building and classroom activities. 🎭✨ In February, Imogen, a Year 9 Northfield pupil, went to audition at Nottingham Playhouse to join the National Youth Theatre. Imogen was successful and has been offered a place on the Newcastle Course this summer and after which, she will become a full member of the National Youth Theatre until the age of 25. 👏🎉 National Youth Theatre empowers young people to tell stories and find their voices on leading stages, screens and behind the scenes. 🏉 Year 9 Rugby Success 🏉 Alongside our Year 8 success in the County Cup Finals this week, our Year 9 team also reached the final on Monday at Mowden Park Stadium in Darlington. The team competed in a hard-fought game against a strong side in High Tunstall. They showed great determination and work rate throughout, but just lacked that final bit of quality in the second half to secure the win. 📚 Library Round-Up – April: ‘Everybody Can Be a Reader’ At Northfield, we want every pupil to discover a love of reading 💙 This month, our focus has been on graphic novels and comics — a genre that is sometimes overlooked but growing rapidly in popularity. Recent reports show that sales of graphic novels are at an all-time high, and a survey by the National Literacy Trust found that 40.7% of children and young people enjoy reading them at least once a month 📈 To support this, we have added 50 new graphic novels to the school library, all now on display and available to borrow 📖✨ 🎨 Get Involved! We are also running a creative competition for pupils to design their own characters and comic strips — perfect for fans of the genre and budding artists!
