🐉🚣 Dragon Boating Adventure! 🌊💙 On Wednesday, it was the turn of our Year 7 pupils in the morning 🌅, followed by Year 8 (along with some guest Year 9s 🎉) in the afternoon to experience Dragon Boating at the River Tees Watersports Centre. 🇺🇸 USA Trip – Day 5 🗽✨ What an incredible day exploring the very best of New York City! 🤩🌆 Our adventure began with a visit to the iconic Statue of Liberty 🗽, where pupils learned about its history 📚 and enjoyed stunning views across the harbour. 🌊 We then took on the famous Brooklyn Bridge 🌉, soaking up the skyline 🏙️ before heading to DUMBO 📸 to capture the classic New York photo with the Manhattan Bridge in the background. 🌟 Next, we explored Wall Street 💼📈, discovering the heart of New York's financial district, before spending time at the incredibly moving 9/11 Memorial & Museum 🕊️❤️. It was a powerful and thought-provoking experience that gave everyone the opportunity to reflect on an important moment in history. 🇺🇸 USA Trip – Day 4 🗽✨ Today our pupils stepped back in time ⏳ as they explored the historic Independence Hall 🏛️ and the streets of downtown Philadelphia 🌆, discovering where some of America's most important moments unfolded. It was fantastic to see their curiosity and enthusiasm 🤩 as they brought their classroom learning to life. 📚✨ After a busy afternoon of sightseeing 🚶‍♂️📸, we enjoyed dinner at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. 🍤🍽️, before heading to the city that never sleeps. 🌃🚍 The highlight of the evening was experiencing the bright lights ✨ and incredible atmosphere of Times Square 🗽🌟 for the very first time. From towering billboards 📺 to the bustling crowds 👥, it was a moment our pupils won't forget! 💙 Another unforgettable day filled with history 🏛️, culture 🎭, and lifelong memories. 🇺🇸✈️ USA Trip – Day 3 Part 2 🏛️⚽ Today our pupils truly made history come alive! 📚✨ First stop was the iconic White House 🏛️, followed by a fascinating visit to The People's House, where they explored the story behind America's most famous address. 🇺🇸 The learning continued at the incredible Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History 🦖🦕, before heading to the famous J. Edgar Hoover Building 🏢 and the historic Ford's Theatre 🎭. It was certainly a day packed with monuments, memories and museum-ments! 😄 As the sun began to set 🌅, it was game on at the FIFA Fan Zone ⚽🌍, where pupils joined football fans from around the world to watch Germany take on Paraguay in a thrilling World Cup atmosphere. 🏆 The excitement didn't stay on the big screen either... some of our pupils even laced up their boots 👟 and joined an impromptu football match with fellow young fans. Safe to say they were making international connections one pass at a time! ⚽🤝🌎 To round off a fantastic day, the group headed to Carmine's 🍝🇮🇹 for a traditional Italian dinner. 🌊🗺️ Year 8 Geography Fieldwork ☀️📚 Last week Year 8 pupils carried out Geography Fieldwork in Seaham, investigating how coastal processes change our coastline. 🌊🏖️ Pupils were excellent in very hot conditions. ☀️👏 They used a number of fieldwork techniques, which prepares pupils for GCSE Geography 📏📝. 🇺🇸✈️ USA Trip – Day 2 🏛️🌧️ Day 2 was another exciting day packed with sightseeing around Washington, D.C. 🗽 Pupils began by visiting the Washington Monument 🏛️ before heading to Capitol Hill 🇺🇸 to learn more about the heart of American government. They then explored the National Museum of American History 🏺, where they saw fascinating exhibits celebrating the nation's past and even discovered iconic pieces of pop culture 🎬, proving that history isn't just found in textbooks—it's on the big screen too! 📚✨ The group also visited the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum 🕊️, where pupils spent time reflecting on the powerful and moving exhibits, gaining a deeper understanding of one of history's darkest chapters and the importance of remembrance. ❤️ Later in the day, the group visited the Navy Memorial ⚓ before ending with a well-earned dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe 🍔🍟, where everyone enjoyed great food and shared stories from the day's adventures. 😄 The only thing that seemed determined to join us all day was the rain 🌧️😂—it clearly didn't want to miss out on the sightseeing either!
