Leaders in Sport
Northfield has been a Sports College for over 14 years and during that time has developed a wide range of sports related programmes in healthy life styles, sport participation, pupil leadership, coaching, and exam qualifications. Since Sports College status the P.E. department has developed and introduced a range of academic qualifications to suit the needs of all the pupils. These include G.C.S.E. P.E., B.T.E.C. Sport and B.T.E.C. Dance
It is our aim to equip every pupil with the skills, confidence and knowledge to become independent, healthy and successful young adults.
Sporting Excellence
Northfield has supported and coached pupils to the highest levels in sport over a number of years. From sprinter Richard Kilty, the World indoor 60m champion to the girls Table Tennis team that have been National Champions for three out of the last four years.
Mr Alderson, P.E. teacher and Football Coach was recently appointed as the English Schools F.A. U18 manager for 2018-2020
Supporting the Local Community
Northfield is very much a community facility. We have almost 200 active members who come and use our fitness suite within our Sportsdrome and we hire out our facilities to many local teams in a range of sports.
School Sports Partnership
Northfield is the host school of the Stockton School Sports Partnership supporting the development of Competition and P.E. and School Sport in all primary, secondary and special schools across the borough. Northfield is pivotal in organizing the ‘School Games’ in both Stockton and the Tees Valley.
