Open Evening 2023

We were delighted to open our doors last night to welcome many local families into school for our annual Year 6 open evening. The event offered a sneak peek into student life, allowing guests to discover what makes Northfield special.

Year 6 pupils and their parents were shown around school by our wonderful prefects, who guided them to each department. Visitors had the opportunity to explore the school's facilities, chat with staff members, meet current pupils, and hear an insightful presentation from Headteacher, Mr Henderson.

Guests also explored Northfield's separate Year 7 school, designed to ease the transition from primary to secondary education. Our Year 7 pupils benefit from having their own classrooms, yard, and canteen and venture into the main building for classes such as PE, music and art, enabling them to settle in more comfortably.

One of the evening’s most heartwarming highlights was the nostalgia shared by ex-pupils attending the event who now have children of their own. They admired the positive changes the school has undergone while fondly reminiscing about their own time as pupils.

Our young VIPs enjoyed exciting activities in each subject hosted by our dedicated teachers. Among the crowd-pleasers was the Northfield Ninja Warrior challenge, with Aiden from Billingham South Primary School earning the title of the fastest ninja with an impressive time of 10.65s, closely followed by Fraser from Bewley Primary School who achieved 10.66s.

Our popular Science Department put on an array of investigations for pupils to get stuck into, including the hair-raising Van der Graff and thrilling fire experiments. Design and Technology drew in the crowds with delicious pizza workshops and their fascinating machinery and robotics, and maths had plenty of thought-provoking games with sweet rewards!
